Even when our space is limited, there are always a few ideas that can serve as inspiration for us to bring nature indoors or out into our garden. Today, homify has selected 20 small gardens that are possible to build in even the tiniest spaces. Each project can be created creatively, quickly and economically.

Now, to start the garden design in your home you need to analyze and choose which species will grow. It is important during the process of choosing the plants to not mix many types of flowers and foliage, so you avoid spoiling the sense of balance and environmental harmony. Another key point is to pick the right plant size for the space. Once everything is chosen, it's time to get started. Check out these 20 small gardens and get inspired!

1. Vertical garden

The vertical garden is great for those who have little space but do not want to leave the yard lifeless. Note that a small bordering flowerbed was also created to optimise the beauty of this green corner to the fullest!

2. Wood deck

You don't need a huge garden to make a cosy atmosphere. This tiny home garden only needs two pots, wooden decking and white stones, plus the wooden bench and small vase with flowers, to hit the maximum charm factor.

3. Green wall

A wall of greenery is a simple and space efficient way of creating a beautiful garden corner. These homeowners used different foliage to make their courtyard wall look like a forest.

4. Flowerbed plants

The layout of your plants depends on the species you want to have in your garden. These should be the same shade and easy to handle and if you're busy opt for ones that do not always need care. Don't feel like you need to plant an entire flowerbed either – using pots and planters over a hardy flowerbed is just as effective.

5. Flowers and vessels on the walls

Building a garden doesn't require a lot – you just need to have the gift of making simple and beautiful things stand out. Here a mini vertical garden was placed on the wall, and the corner was completed with potted plants of different sizes and small stones on the ground.

6. A stone mix

The garden was decorated with a small tree, stone floor and deck wood, and has a pleasant atmosphere with a painted wooden bench and white tile detail on the wall.

7. Use that under-stair space

The stone under-stair feature is the perfect choice for those who prefer a  low-maintenance indoor garden to the natural rambling style. The wooden deck and bench adds extra style and functionality.

8. Different spices in pots

It might not be a garden per se, but a mini space dedicated to herbs and plants is the ideal addition to a small balcony or terrace.

9. Wooden decking

In this garden wooden decking was used to form a path through the stones. Extra flair is added thanks to the flowers in the vertical wall and potted plants on the ground.

10. Colour walls and flowers in pots

In this garden some small pots were filled with different species of plants, so that the small house was not without a green space.

11. Vertical garden with fountain

It doesn't matter if the room in your house is small – what matters is how you decorate it. This vertical garden, decorated with stone and a water feature, is perfection.

12. Choose local plants

Plant local flora in small pots and place them round the house – turn your entire home into a garden!

13. Using wood as an ally

It's a natural material that brings warmth and character to any environment.

14. Garden in the hallway

If you have an empty corridor, an excellent idea is to invest in a small garden with plants in pots… and also vertically!

15. Artwork

Add some culture and greenery to your home – place a work of art right in the middle of the garden!

16. Plants in the lobby

You can put a planter in your entrance hall as a way of cultivating nature outside and indoors – bliss.

17. Lighting in the garden

A garden with original and creative lamps. The light will give a magical touch to your small garden.

18. A desert garden

This is a type of garden that does not need much care. Just plant different cacti and surround them with rocks for a beautiful setting in your home.

19. Garden pockets

Affix little plant pockets to your walls, and tuck your favourite foliage inside!

20. Don't forget lighting

To close the article: a beautiful garden that has a bit of everything – vertical garden, pots with fountains, a wooden deck, wooden bench, lawn and stone floors, plus fixtures that add a special touch at night. And all in a teeny tiny space – wonderful!
