A rational spatial design that optimises every valuable square meter, an elegant material and colour palette, and a distinctly Italian charm –  all of the above characterise this stylishly innovative home that we are going to tour today on homify.

The house in Palermo has a modern interior, complete with all the comforts and conveniences of contemporary living. Designed by the architects Giuseppe Rappa & Angelo M. Castiglione, the project entails the extensive renovation of a 120 sqm apartment for a total cost of € 90,000.00.

Let's see what they did…

The entry

The entry introduces the style of the home: sharp and contemporary. The clean lines are met with varied materials to create a rational, yet interesting, design. The entry opens onto a wider lobby and then seamlessly transitions into the living space. This free-flowing open-plan space is modern and bright.

The living room

Centred around the television – unsurprisingly, given the state of modern affairs – the living space provides a space for the family to put their feet up and relax. The contemporary furniture is upholstered in dark shades that offset the white walls and timber floor. Continuing the dark, smokey hues, the television console and shelving unit creates a strong feature against the back wall, which dons a lighter grey finish.

The dining room and kitchen

Located off the living space, via a dog-leg in the plan, the kitchen and dining space is both separate and connected. The minimally designed kitchen is furnished rather maximally. Table, chairs, floor rug, console, pot plant, feature lamp, wall art, and table top decorations – it has it all! A sense of the client's personality and taste emerges in these decorative elements.

The bedroom

The bedroom has a mauve feature wall that immediately establishes the tone and atmosphere in the space. The bright white headboard pops out against the rich colour, while the bed furnishings and curtains make a return to the warmer hue. It's simple, but certainly not in a bland and undifferentiated way – it is packed full of colour and personality.

The bathroom

The bathroom adopts similar dark, smokey hues to that we have seen in the other spaces. Here, they are set against the striking, naturals-tone wall. The timber vanity adds to the earthy feel that is at once rustic and sleek. The state-of-the-art fittings and fixtures top it all off to create a great space.
